Correct Hoop Sizes

• 99.2x94.3 mm design — 100x100 mm (3.94x3.94") embroidery field, commonly called a 4x4" hoop.
• 119.1x113.2 mm design — 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09") embroidery field, commonly called a 5x7" hoop.

The smaller file uses 99.2 mm of the available 100 mm width, leaving only 0.8 mm of clearance. Check the actual stitching field of your machine before transferring the file. If your model does not accept near-limit designs, use a compatible 130x180 mm hoop. Original Madeira Classic Rayon Color Chart

Both sizes contain 21 programmed embroidery blocks and require 20 thread changes. Their sequences are almost identical, but blocks 3 and 15 use Madeira Classic 1002 in the smaller RPE-009 file and Madeira Classic 1003 in the larger RPE-009-02 file. Do not merge repeated colors because other design layers are stitched between them.

Fabric, Stabilizer and Needle Guide

The face, hands, hair, tableware and outlines create many sequential layers, so the stabilizer must hold the fabric securely through all 21 blocks. How to Embroider Alice with the Kettle

1. Prewash washable fabric if the finished item will be laundered.
2. Print the template at 100% scale and mark the center and both axes.
3. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer evenly without stretching or distorting the weave.
4. Load the required file and confirm that the machine displays the complete design inside its stitching field.
5. Use Madeira Classic Rayon 40 or another quality 40-weight embroidery thread with standard embroidery bobbin thread.
6. Stitch all 21 programmed blocks in the original order. Do not combine repeated Madeira numbers.
7. Check that the fabric remains stable before the final dark outlines and red playing-card suits.
8. Remove the stabilizer according to its type and press the embroidery from the wrong side over a soft towel.

Will the smaller file fit a 100x100 mm hoop?

Yes. The 99.2x94.3 mm file fits a true 100x100 mm embroidery field. It leaves only 0.8 mm of clearance across the width, so verify the maximum stitching area of your machine before transferring the file.

Which hoop is required for the larger size?

The 119.1x113.2 mm file requires an embroidery field of at least 130x180 mm, commonly called a 5x7" hoop.

Why do the two sizes use Madeira 1002 and 1003?

The original Royal Present charts specify Madeira Classic 1002 in blocks 3 and 15 of the smaller file and Madeira Classic 1003 in the same blocks of the larger file. Follow the sequence for the size you selected.

How many colors and thread changes does the design have?

Each file uses 14 unique Madeira numbers distributed across 21 programmed embroidery blocks, with 20 thread changes. In the smaller file’s chart, 1007 occupies two separate palette positions but represents one physical thread number.

Can I change the colors of the dress, bow and ribbon?

Yes. Keep clear contrast among the hair, skin, white areas, blue details and dark outlines. Follow the original block order even when substituting colors.

Can I add a name to the lower ribbon?

Yes, if you have embroidery editing software and a suitable alphabet. The lettering must fit inside the ribbon without covering its outlines. Letters are not included in the original design file.

Is this appliqué or a finished patch?

No. It is a filled machine embroidery design stitched directly onto fabric with suitable backing stabilizer.

How do I open the downloaded archive?

Extract the ZIP archive on a computer or use the free Royal Present online ZIP extractor. Transfer only the required size and supported machine format after extraction.
