Elegant Gold Towel Accents Machine Embroidery Design Set includes three separate ornamental motifs created for guest towels, hand towels, bath linens and elegant home textiles. Embroider one different accent on each towel, center it on the smooth woven band, roll the towels with the embroidery facing outward and stack the three finished towels as a coordinated bathroom or guest-room display.

How to Embroider the Designs on a Guest Towel

1. Find the Correct Position Before Hooping

Fold or roll the towel exactly as it will be displayed. Mark the visible center of the smooth woven band with a water-soluble fabric marker. Unroll the towel and use this mark as the embroidery center.

This simple step is more accurate than centering the design on the flat towel: after rolling, a geometrically centered motif may otherwise disappear underneath the fold.

2. Prewash the Towel

Wash and dry a cotton towel before embroidery. This removes finishing products and completes most of the initial shrinkage. Press only the smooth decorative band; do not flatten the terry loops with excessive pressure.

3. Calculate the Stabilizer Weight

Use the Royal Present starting formula:

The smooth woven band may be thinner and firmer than the terry part of the towel. Treat the calculation as a starting point and test one complete motif on an identical towel before embroidering the final set.

4. Choose the Backing According to the Visible Reverse Side

If the reverse side will be visible after the towel is rolled, use Gunold SOLVY FABRIC 40 g/m² as the backing. It is a fabric-like water-soluble stabilizer that washes away without leaving a white stabilizer patch around the embroidery.

If the towel will not be washed before it is presented, use Gunold STIFFY 1650 50 g/m². It is a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer that can be removed almost completely. Tear away each layer separately and support the stitches with one hand while removing the stabilizer with the other.

5. Use Topping Only Where Needed

If the complete motif lies on a flat woven band, water-soluble topping is normally unnecessary. If any part of the design touches terry loops, place Gunold SULKY SOLVY water-soluble film on top. The film prevents narrow stitches from sinking into the pile.

6. Hoop Without Stretching the Towel

If the towel and stabilizer fit comfortably in the hoop, hoop the complete sandwich together. The woven band must remain straight and must not be stretched.

For a thick towel, hoop only the stabilizer, lightly spray the stabilizer with Gunold KK 100 temporary adhesive and float the towel on top. Spray the stabilizer away from the towel and allow the adhesive to become tacky before positioning the fabric. Add the machine’s basting box around the design whenever available.

7. Make the Reverse Side Neater

For a decorative towel whose reverse side remains visible, use a matching gold bobbin thread instead of white bobbin thread. Madeira Classic Rayon No. 60 is available in color 1225 and is thinner than the No. 40 upper thread.

Test the bobbin tension first. The reverse side cannot look identical to the front because correct machine tension pulls a small amount of upper thread to the back, but matching upper and bobbin colors prevent a conspicuous white line around the design.

After embroidery, trim jump stitches on both sides, remove or dissolve the stabilizer and press the embroidered band from the reverse side over a folded towel.

8. Recommended Machine Settings

• Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40, color 1225, as the upper thread;
• matching Madeira Classic Rayon No. 60 or another fine color-matched bobbin thread;
• new embroidery needle 75/11;
• 80/12 needle only when the woven band is unusually dense or heavy;
• approximately 500–650 stitches per minute;
• original design size and stitch sequence;
• boundary check before starting the machine.

How to Create the Three-Towel Display

1. Choose three matching guest or hand towels with a smooth decorative band.
2. Embroider one different gold motif on each towel.
3. Center every motif using the same distance from the lower towel edge.
4. Roll each towel so the embroidered band faces outward.
5. Place the three rolls one above another with the gold motifs aligned vertically.

The three different designs make the set coordinated without producing three identical towels. White, ivory, charcoal, forest green and deep navy towels work especially well with Madeira 1225 Liquid Gold.

The supplied PES, DST, JEF and other machine formats are finished stitch files calculated for the listed dimensions. They are not editable source files.

Automatic resizing may change stitch length, spacing and registration. The safest option is to use the supplied size. If another exact size is required, request the professional embroidery design resizing service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many embroidery designs are included?

The set contains three separate ornamental towel accents, with one size of each design.

Do all three designs fit a 5x7 hoop?

Yes, but the machine must provide a true 130x180 mm embroidery field. One design measures exactly 180.0 mm and uses the complete hoop length.

Do the designs fit a 4x4 hoop?

No. All three designs are approximately 179–180 mm long and cannot fit a 100x100 mm embroidery field.

Are the designs embroidered with metallic thread?

The recommended Madeira 1225 Liquid Gold is a lustrous viscose rayon thread, not metallic thread. It creates a rich gold appearance with easier machine handling.

Can I use another thread color?

Yes. Each design is single-color, so the programmed screen color can be replaced with any thread shade without changing the stitch sequence.

How can I keep the towel reverse side neat?

Use a water-soluble backing, matching gold bobbin thread and careful jump-stitch trimming. Avoid permanent cut-away backing when the reverse side will remain visible.

Is water-soluble topping always required?

No. It is unnecessary on a completely smooth woven band. Use it when stitches cross terry loops or another raised surface.

How do I open the downloaded ZIP archive?
