Moroccan Floral Monogram Frame Machine Embroidery Design features a round open frame surrounded by symmetrical turquoise vines, blue ornamental leaves, white flowers and small golden centers. Add your own machine embroidery letter, initials or short monogram to personalize towels, pillowcases, table linens and decorative fabric projects.

The ornament is inspired by the blue, turquoise, white and gold decorative palette found in Moroccan and Central Asian architectural art. Its open circular center provides space for a separately purchased or created machine embroidery font.

This is a standard machine embroidery design stitched directly onto fabric. It is not appliqué, freestanding lace or an in-the-hoop construction project.

The gold letter B, embroidery font, small white crown, fabric and finished embroidered item shown in the photographs are not included. The download contains the blank floral frame only.

Hoop and Embroidery Field Requirements

The design requires a usable embroidery field of at least 109.8x137.7 mm (4.32x5.42"). It fits a true 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09") embroidery field, commonly sold as a 5x7 hoop.

  • 100x100 mm or 4x4: does not fit because both dimensions exceed the embroidery field;
  • 100x170 mm: does not fit because the design is 109.8 mm wide;
  • 120x140 mm: technically sufficient only when the machine provides the complete stated field; vertical clearance is only 2.3 mm;
  • 130x180 mm or 5x7: recommended for comfortable placement.

Check the machine’s actual usable embroidery area rather than relying only on the commercial hoop name.

Madeira Classic Rayon 40 Color Chart

Block 1 — Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1132
Clear Blue — pale blue-gray floral scrolls, leaves and light ornamental details
Block 2 — Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1176
Navajo Blue — main circular satin border, turquoise vines and stronger blue details
Block 3 — Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1004
Natural White — flower petals, white buds and contrasting light accents
Block 4 — Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1125
Saffron Yellow — small golden flower centers

Embroidery sequence: 1132 Clear Blue → 1176 Navajo Blue → 1004 Natural White → 1125 Saffron Yellow.

The technical color chart may round the stitch count to 10500. The product information retains the exact file value of 10499 stitches. Minor differences can also occur between machine formats because individual formats record commands, trims and jumps differently.

Screen swatches are approximate. Actual thread color depends on lighting, monitor settings, thread shine and dye lot. Use the Madeira Thread Free Exchange Converter when selecting equivalent shades from another thread manufacturer.

Embroidery on Navy and White Fabric

Original Navy Sample

The sewn sample uses dark navy fabric. Madeira 1132, 1176 and 1004 remain clearly separated against the dark background, while Madeira 1125 creates small warm centers inside the white flowers.

The gold letter B visible in the center was added separately to demonstrate a finished monogram. It is not included in the downloadable frame file.

Embroidery on White Fabric

Madeira 1004 Natural White will have very little contrast on white or ivory fabric. For a clearly visible light-fabric version, replace block 3 with Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1042 Lapis Blue. Keep 1132 and 1176 for the other blue layers and retain 1125 for the flower centers.

Another option is to use pale blue fabric and retain all four original colors. This preserves the white floral details without creating the severe contrast of a dark navy background.

Do not simply skip block 3. The white sections are embroidered petals, buds and highlights rather than empty background areas.

Metallic Thread Options

  • Golden flower centers: replace block 4, Madeira Classic 1125, with Madeira FS Metallic 40 985-4002 Gold 2;
  • Champagne-colored accents: use Madeira FS Metallic 40 985-4022 White Gold instead of block 4;
  • Silver flowers on navy fabric: block 3, Madeira Classic 1004, may be replaced with Madeira FS Metallic 40 985-4010 Silver;
  • Separate monogram: a separately added letter or pair of initials can be embroidered with Madeira FS Metallic 40 985-4002 Gold 2.

The small golden centers and the separately added monogram are the safest places for a metallic effect. Keep the long turquoise circular border and main vines in regular rayon unless you have successfully tested the complete design with metallic thread.

For Madeira FS Metallic 40, begin with a SCHMETZ Metallic 90/14 needle, reduce the embroidery speed to approximately 350–400 stitches per minute and use standard polyester embroidery bobbin thread. Test the complete design before embroidering the finished item.

Fabric, Stabilizer and Needle

  • Stable navy or white cotton, linen and twill: use one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft 50 g/m² tear-away stabilizer;
  • Thin linen where backing must be removed completely: use Gunold SOLVY FABRIC 40 g/m² water-soluble backing when the fabric can be washed after embroidery;
  • Terry towels, velvet, fleece and pile fabrics: use Madeira Cotton Soft 50 g/m² underneath and Gunold SOLVY FILM 20 water-soluble topping over the fabric;
  • Jersey, knitwear and stretch fabric: use Madeira Weblon Plus Fusible 70 g/m² cut-away stabilizer for permanent support;
  • Textile items that cannot be hooped: use Madeira Cotton Fix 50 g/m² self-adhesive tear-away stabilizer. Do not stretch the fabric while positioning it;
  • Regular rayon embroidery: use a SCHMETZ Embroidery 75/11 needle;
  • Metallic embroidery: use a SCHMETZ Metallic 90/14 needle.

The design contains long curved satin stitches and small flower details. Loose hooping or insufficient stabilization can distort the circle and shift the white petals away from the blue ornamental sections.

Read the detailed Choosing Stabilizers for Machine Embroidery guide.

How to Add a Letter or Monogram

  1. Open the floral frame in compatible embroidery editing software.
  2. Insert a real digitized machine embroidery letter or monogram into the open center.
  3. Center the lettering without allowing its satin stitches to touch the circular border.
  4. Check the complete dimensions and stitch sequence after combining the files.
  5. Save the finished composition in the format supported by your embroidery machine.
  6. Test the complete frame and lettering on similar fabric and stabilizer.

An ordinary computer font cannot be transferred directly to an embroidery machine unless it has first been correctly digitized as embroidery stitches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this design fit a 4x4 hoop?

No. The design measures 109.8x137.7 mm (4.32x5.42"), so it exceeds a 100x100 mm embroidery field in both directions.

Does it fit a 5x7 hoop?

Yes. It fits a true 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09") embroidery field.

Is a PES file included?

Yes. PES is included together with DST, JEF, PEC, VIP, HUS, EXP, SEW, DAT, VP3 and XXX. Compatibility also depends on the formats supported by the machine model and its usable embroidery field.

Is the gold letter B included?

No. The purchase contains only the blank floral frame. The letter B demonstrates how a separately digitized embroidery font can be placed inside the frame.

Is the small white crown included?

No. The crown visible beside the sewn sample is a branding element and is not part of the embroidery file.

Can the frame be embroidered without a letter?

Yes. The supplied file can be stitched exactly as provided and used as an independent decorative floral medallion.

Can I use my own embroidery font?

Yes. Add a correctly digitized machine embroidery font in compatible editing software. Check the combined dimensions, placement and stitch sequence before saving the completed file.

Which color should be changed on white fabric?

Replace block 3, Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1004 Natural White, with a contrasting shade such as Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1042 Lapis Blue.

Which section can be embroidered with metallic thread?

Block 4 is the easiest substitution. Replace Madeira Classic 1125 with Madeira FS Metallic 40 985-4002 Gold 2 or 985-4022 White Gold. A separately added monogram can also be embroidered with metallic thread.

Can I embroider it on a towel?

Yes. Use suitable backing underneath the towel and Gunold SOLVY FILM 20 water-soluble topping over the pile. The topping prevents the narrow decorative stitches and small flowers from sinking between the loops.

Can the design be resized?

Use the supplied original size whenever possible. Resizing can change satin-stitch width, density, pull compensation and the alignment between the blue ornament and white flowers. Royal Present Embroidery is not responsible for stitch quality after independent resizing, editing, splitting or format conversion.

How do I select the correct file format?

Extract the ZIP archive and transfer only the format supported by your embroidery machine. See the Embroidery Machine File Formats Guide if you are unsure.

How do I unpack the ZIP archive?

Extract the archive on a computer or use the free Royal Present online unzip tool.

Is this a finished embroidered product?

No. This is a downloadable digital design for a computerized embroidery machine. No fabric, thread, lettering or physical product will be shipped.

Can I sell items embroidered with this design?

Finished physical products may be sold by a small handmade business. Industrial mass production and redistribution, sharing, exchange or resale of the digital files are prohibited. Read the complete Royal Present Embroidery terms of use.
