Indian Floral Paisley Border Machine Embroidery Design is a multicolor ornamental pattern for towels, table linens, clothing and elegant home decor. The composition combines curved paisley shapes with flowers, decorative leaves and flowing botanical scrolls. Purple, teal, natural white and yellow details create a rich contrast on navy blue, emerald, burgundy, black and other dark fabrics.

Paisley is also known as buta, boteh or the Persian teardrop. Its curved pointed shape is one of the most recognizable motifs associated with Indian and Persian textile art.

Madeira Classic Thread Colors

• 1052 — teal green. Used for the leaves and curved botanical elements.
• 1311 — lavender purple. Used for the large paisley shapes and ornamental details.
• 1004 — natural white. Used for the flower petals and light accents.
• 1068 — canary yellow. Used for outlines and small golden-colored details.

The color chart is a recommendation rather than a restriction. You can adapt the palette to the fabric and project. For a more restrained result, select four related shades from one color family. The design can also be embroidered in one color by using the same upper thread at every programmed color stop.

Hoop Size and Embroidery Field

The smaller 89.2x178.2 mm file fits a true 130x180 mm embroidery field. Only 1.8 mm of total clearance remains along the length. It will not fit a 127x177.8 mm embroidery field because the design length is 178.2 mm.

The larger 99.2x198.2 mm file requires an embroidery field of at least 140x200 mm. It leaves only 1.8 mm of total clearance along the 200 mm side. Check the actual usable embroidery field of your machine before purchasing.

Neither size fits a 100x100 mm or 4x4-inch embroidery field. The smaller file also does not fit a 100x170 mm field.

Embroidery Formats and Machine Compatibility

• PES and PEC: commonly used by Brother and Baby Lock machines;
• JEF and SEW: commonly used by Janome, Elna and some older Kenmore machines;
• VP3, VIP and HUS: used by many Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking models;
• EXP: used by some Bernina and Melco systems;
• DST: widely used by Tajima and many commercial or multi-needle embroidery machines.

How to Embroider the Border on Terry Cloth

1. Prepare the towel. Prewash it if the finished item will be washed regularly. This prevents later shrinkage around the embroidery.
2. Stabilize the back. Use medium-weight tear-away stabilizer for a stable woven towel. Choose cut-away stabilizer for soft, loosely constructed or stretchy terry cloth.
3. Add water-soluble topping. Place a thin water-soluble film over the pile so small flowers, outlines and decorative stitches remain above the terry loops.
4. Secure all layers. Apply temporary spray adhesive to the stabilizer, attach it to the wrong side of the towel and hoop the towel with the stabilizer. Keep the fabric smooth but do not stretch it.
5. Select the needle. Begin with an embroidery needle size 75/11. Use size 80/12 if the towel is thick. For knitted terry cloth, use a suitable ballpoint embroidery needle.
6. Use No. 40 thread. Rayon or polyester machine embroidery thread is suitable. Complete a test stitch using the same fabric, backing, topping, needle and thread planned for the final item.
7. Remove the topping carefully. Tear away the large areas after embroidery. Remove small pieces with water or a damp sponge according to the stabilizer manufacturer’s instructions.

Stabilizer for Cotton and Linen

For stable woven cotton, linen or gabardine, use tear-away stabilizer attached to the wrong side with temporary spray adhesive. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together.

A practical starting point for stabilizer weight is:

fabric weight ÷ 3 = approximate stabilizer weight

For example, fabric weighing 180 g/m², or approximately 5.31 oz/yd², requires about 60 g/m², or 1.77 oz/yd², of stabilization as an initial estimate.

This formula is a starting point for stable woven fabric, not a universal rule. Loose linen, stretchy material, terry cloth and dense embroidery may require stronger or permanent support.

Can Metallic Thread Be Used?

Yes. Madeira Classic 1068 can be replaced with a gold No. 40 metallic embroidery thread. Use a Metallic needle suitable for the selected thread, begin at approximately 500–600 stitches per minute and make a complete test sample.

Keep regular embroidery bobbin thread in the bobbin case. Metallic thread is used only as the upper thread for the golden details.

Stitching the entire border with metallic thread is possible only after testing. This design contains long satin elements, and the result depends on the thread construction, needle, upper tension and thread path of the embroidery machine.

It fits only if the machine has a true 130x180 mm embroidery field. The file measures 89.2x178.2 mm, leaving only 1.8 mm of total clearance along the length. It will not fit a 127x177.8 mm field.

Can the border be embroidered in one color?

Yes. Use the same thread for all four programmed color sections. The embroidery machine may still stop at the programmed color changes, but the thread does not need to be replaced.

Is this a seamless repeatable border?

Seamless connection is not specified for this design. Before stitching several files as a long border, print the templates at 100% scale and check how the ends align. Precise joining may require embroidery software and a test stitch.

Is water-soluble topping required on smooth fabric?

It is normally unnecessary on stable cotton, linen or other smooth woven fabric. Topping is recommended for terry cloth, velvet, fleece and other textured surfaces where small stitches may sink into the fabric.

Can finished items embroidered with this design be sold?

Yes. You may sell a limited quantity of finished embroidered items. Reselling, sharing, exchanging or distributing the digital embroidery files is prohibited. Industrial mass production is not permitted.
