Peacock with a Long Tail on a Flowering Tree

Peacock with Long Tail on a Tree is a digital machine embroidery design featuring a side-profile peacock perched on a flowering branch. Its long cascading tail, patterned with rows of eyespot feathers, is surrounded by pink blossoms and buds, turquoise leaves and golden accents. The vertical composition suits a towel, as shown in the main preview, as well as a decorative cushion front, textile wall panel or bag panel made from suitable fabric. A light background highlights the peacock’s silhouette, the curved flowering branches and the pattern of each tail feather.

One motif is supplied in seven ready-to-stitch sizes. The Madeira Classic palette contains 15 color numbers. This is a digital embroidery file download; finished towels, sewing patterns and materials are not included.

Design Sizes and Suitable Hoops

The popular hoop sizes below are suitable examples. Use only hoops compatible with your machine and select their actual embroidery field on the machine. Some variants leave only about 2 mm of total nominal clearance along the long side: check that the machine accepts the file and run a full boundary check before stitching. Do not add an external basting frame without checking that it fits within the field.

The Indian floral border and paired floral corners can coordinate a textile collection with pink blossoms and turquoise-and-gold ornament. The large peacock is a separate option for mega hoops, while the peacock corner offers a different layout for napkins and tablecloths. These products are sold separately and are not included in this design.

Madeira Classic Color Chart

All seven supplied charts specify the same 15 Madeira Classic color numbers. The squares below reproduce the digital color samples from the supplied chart, not colors from the room shown in the preview. Screen colors do not replace a physical Madeira shade card: use the color number and actual thread sample for accurate thread matching.

Useful Questions About Embroidering the Peacock on a Towel

Which stabilizer should I use for this peacock on a terry towel?

Start with a medium-weight cut-away backing underneath and a thin water-soluble film topper. The topper keeps the small flower and feather details above the terry loops; it does not replace the backing. The backing must be held securely around the entire hoop. A towel with a shorter pile is a practical starting point. Test the actual towel and stabilizer combination before stitching the finished item.

How can I secure a thick towel without losing registration in the feather outlines?

If the hoop accommodates the layers, hoop the towel, backing and topper together without stretching the towel. Do not force an overly thick sandwich between the rings. If the towel will not fit, hoop the backing and attach the towel on top with a tested temporary embroidery adhesive, applied to the backing away from the machine. Floating increases the risk of shifting, so test first. Keep any additional fastenings outside the needle path.

Where should I place the long peacock on a towel displayed over a rail?

Print a full-size template of your chosen file and place it on the towel while it is folded as it will hang. For this vertical composition, check that the crest and tail tip remain visible and avoid the fold and dense hem. Mark the center of the entire composition, including the tree and tail, rather than just the bird’s body. Unfold the towel before embroidering so that no folded fabric underneath is caught in the stitching.

How should I support a heavy towel while stitching the long tail?

Rest the excess towel on a flat support close to the machine’s working height so its hanging weight cannot pull on the hooped area. Loosely roll or fold the excess outside the hoop and carriage travel. Run the full design-boundary check with the towel arranged in this position: it must clear the machine body, hoop attachments and table throughout the movement. Do not restrain the moving hoop by hand. Stop the machine before repositioning the excess fabric.
