A useful embroidery tip while you wait

The same purple shade can look different depending on the thread material. Isacord is a polyester embroidery thread with good abrasion resistance and colourfastness. Madeira Polyneon is also polyester and is a practical choice for towels, napkins, clothing and other items that will be washed frequently.

Madeira Classic is a 100% viscose rayon thread. It is softer and produces a smooth, elegant lustre, making it especially attractive on decorative sachets, pillow panels, framed embroidery and gifts that are not subjected to constant laundering.

  • Choose Isacord or Madeira Polyneon for frequently washed or heavily used textiles.
  • Choose Madeira Classic Rayon when softness and a flowing, glossy finish are more important.
  • For a natural palette, combine deep plum petals, a lighter violet detail and dark green leaves.

If your color chart uses Madeira numbers but you own another thread brand, use the free Madeira thread conversion tool. Always compare the suggested shade visually because polyester and rayon reflect light differently.
