What is included

Embroidery hoop compatibility

The largest Bouquet 1 measures 131.2x148.1 mm (5.17x5.83 ") and does not fit a true 130x180 mm (5x7 ") embroidery field. Its short side exceeds 130 mm by 1.2 mm (0.05 "), so this file requires an embroidery field of at least 131.2x148.1 mm. A standard 140x200 mm (5.5x8 ") hoop is suitable.

The medium Bouquet 2 is 100.5 mm (3.96 ") wide, so it does not fit a true 100x100 mm field despite the rounded inch measurement. Use the 91.6x54.2 mm (3.61x2.13 ") file or a hoop with a larger actual embroidery area.

Details in the two poinsettia bouquets

The large bouquet has a free, asymmetrical shape and works especially well in a corner or slightly off center. The compact bouquet is horizontally elongated, making it suitable for the edge of an item or repeated placement across a coordinated textile set.

Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40 color guide

The Bouquet 1 technical color sequence uses seven colors. The swatches are approximate because a screen cannot reproduce the exact shade and sheen of rayon embroidery thread.

Bouquet 2 uses the main flower and foliage colors from this palette; brown 1126 is used for the pine cones in Bouquet 1. Follow the color sequence supplied with the file for your selected machine format.

Bouquet 1 color sequence

12 color blocks: 1187 → 1377 → 1187 → 1249 → 1187 → 1249 → 1369 → 1110 → 1187 → 1110 → 1171 → 1126.

The repeated 1187, 1249 and 1110 blocks stitch separate areas of the composition in the correct overlap order. Do not use automatic color sorting or merge identical colors: this can alter the stitching sequence, create longer jumps and disrupt the layering of the details.

Madeira stabilizers for home embroidery machines

Select the stabilizer according to the fabric and bouquet size. For a stable woven fabric, a practical starting point for the total backing weight is approximately one third of the fabric weight. For example, one 60 g/m² layer is a sensible starting point for 180 g/m² linen; two heavy layers are not automatically necessary.

Do not add a second backing layer automatically. The stitch load calculated across each design’s full bounding rectangle is approximately 114–149 stitches/cm², but the final result still depends on local filled areas and the fabric itself. Add a second layer only if a test stitch shows puckering, outline displacement or inadequate support on the specific material.

Machine settings and embroidery technique

• use a new 75/11 embroidery needle for linen, cotton and napkin fabric;
• use an 80/12 needle for firm bag fabric if it is compatible with the selected thread;
• hoop the fabric and bottom stabilizer together without stretching the material;
• begin at 600–700 stitches per minute and reduce speed on loosely woven fabric or if outlines begin to shift;
• on terry cloth, cover the entire embroidery area with Avalon Film and secure it so it cannot move;
• do not merge repeated color blocks — the 12-stop sequence is part of the stitching order for Bouquet 1;
• test the design on matching fabric with the same thread, needle and stabilizer before embroidering the final item.

How many designs and sizes are included?

The set contains two different bouquets, each supplied in three original sizes. You receive 6 size options in every listed machine embroidery format.

Which option fits a 100x100 mm hoop?

Only the compact Bouquet 2 at 91.6x54.2 mm (3.61x2.13 ") fits a true 100x100 mm embroidery field. The 100.5x59.8 mm version exceeds the 100 mm field by 0.5 mm.

Can I merge identical colors to reduce the number of stops?

It is not recommended. Repeated colors stitch separate areas in a specific technical order. Automatic color merging can create longer jumps and change the overlap order of petals, leaves and small details.

Which Madeira home-use stabilizer should I use for a linen tablecloth?

For stable linen weighing 140–170 g/m², use one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft 50 at 50 g/m² (1.47 oz/yd²). For firm linen weighing 170–220 g/m² and the large Bouquet 1, start with one layer of Cotton Soft 60 at 60 g/m² (1.77 oz/yd²). Madeira Cotton Stable 50 is more suitable for loosely woven linen because it can be fused to the wrong side. Always test on a matching fabric scrap.

Do I need a water-soluble topping on a terry towel?

Yes. Place one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft 60 under the towel and one layer of Madeira Avalon Film, 20 μm (0.79 mil), over the pile. The film keeps terry loops beneath the stitches so small details remain visible.
