Digital machine embroidery design showing a mummy bunny seated on grass with spider legs behind it, framed by two oak branches with leaves and acorns. Five separately digitized files fit hoops from 130x180 mm (5x7 in) to 180x180 mm (7x7 in). The composition works well on the front of a child’s sweatshirt, a trick-or-treat bag, a backpack, a cushion cover or a textile wall panel.

Choose the size by the usable embroidery area of your hoop and keep enough clear fabric around the full composition: the upper oak branches are part of the design, not an optional border.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I place this design on a child’s sweatshirt?

Mark the centre line and the desired top point before hooping. Position by the complete bounding box, not by the bunny’s face: the oak branches extend above the head and need their own clear area. On a ready-made sweatshirt, check that the hoop and carriage can move freely past seams, pockets and the neckline.

What backing is suitable for sweatshirt knit?

Use a stable medium-weight cut-away backing for sweatshirt fleece or jersey; Gunold Stiffy 2040 Cut Away is one example. Hoop the garment and backing together without stretching the knit. If a seam or bulky fleece makes hooping unsafe, hoop the backing and secure the garment with a light application of Gunold KK 100 temporary spray adhesive, following the product instructions.

How do I estimate backing weight for a woven fabric?

Start with the fabric weight in g/m² divided by 3. For example, 180 g/m² fabric gives a starting point of about 60 g/m² backing. This is a calculation starting point: choose tear-away or cut-away according to the fabric’s stretch and openness, then stitch a test on the same material and stabilizer.

How can I keep the details clear on terry, fleece or velour?

Use a water-soluble topping such as Sulky Solvy on the surface to hold down the pile while the fine outlines stitch. Place the topping smoothly, avoid pulling it taut, and remove it after embroidery according to its instructions. The backing still supports the fabric from underneath; topping does not replace it.
