Ramadan Kareem is a single-color machine embroidery design combining Arabic calligraphy with the outline of a crescent moon. The open, flowing composition gives the inscription a clear silhouette without a heavy filled background. Six files cover small gifts, table linens, cushions, prayer textiles and larger Ramadan home décor.

This is an instant-download digital embroidery file. It is not a patch, printed item, appliqué design or finished product.

What the Arabic phrase means

Ramadan Kareem is a traditional Ramadan greeting commonly understood as Generous Ramadan or May Ramadan be generous to you. The crescent shape makes the design immediately recognizable as Islamic festive décor while keeping the calligraphy as the central element.

Thread color

The design is programmed as one color. The published product page does not provide an original numbered Madeira color chart, so the thread may be changed without affecting the sequence.

Color Recommended thread What it embroiders
Madeira Classic Rayon 40 No. 1064 Goldenrod
Recommended classic gold effect; not a mandatory original chart color.
The complete Ramadan Kareem calligraphy and crescent outline in one continuous color.

Other effective combinations include antique gold on emerald or navy fabric, white on deep green, silver on charcoal, and tone-on-tone embroidery on linen. Use genuine metallic thread only after a test: reduce speed and use a metallic needle appropriate for the thread.

Where to embroider the design

  • prayer-mat corner or decorative prayer-room textile;
  • Ramadan table runner, placemat, napkin or serving-cloth panel;
  • cushion cover for an Islamic home décor setting;
  • gift bag for dates, sweets, prayer beads or an Eid present;
  • towel, wall hanging, fabric basket or framed textile panel;
  • cotton-canvas cosmetic bag or accessory pouch.

Choose the size according to the usable embroidery area and the scale of the project. The 98 mm version works for compact gifts and napkins; the 178–198 mm versions are better suited to cushions, wall panels and larger prayer textiles.

Fabric, stabilizer and needle

Material Recommended preparation
Linen or stable cotton Medium tear-away stabilizer; use a second layer for thin napkin fabric.
Velvet, terry or textured fabric Stable backing underneath plus water-soluble film on top so the fine calligraphy remains visible.
Canvas bag or pouch Medium cut-away or firm interfacing inside the panel to prevent distortion.
Knit or stretch fabric Cut-away stabilizer and a suitable ballpoint embroidery needle; test the lettering before the final project.

A practical starting point is stabilizer weight close to one third of the fabric weight in g/m². Hoop the fabric evenly without stretching it. For items that cannot be hooped securely, hoop the stabilizer and attach the fabric with temporary embroidery adhesive, then baste before stitching.

Before stitching

  1. Open the file in the machine or embroidery software and confirm its dimensions in millimetres.
  2. Make sure the selected hoop provides a real field larger than the file in both directions.
  3. Run a test on the same fabric, stabilizer, thread and needle planned for the finished item.
  4. Do not resize the design in the machine without a recalculated embroidery file; thin calligraphic strokes can become unstable.
