This gnome pirate machine embroidery design is the perfect addition to any little boy's wardrobe. Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, this design features a gnome with a treasure chest, yo-ho-hoping his way across the seven seas. This design is available in four sizes so that it can be used on a sweatshirt, pillow, plaid, or anywhere else you can dream up. Embroider this design for your little boy, and he'll be sure to set sail for adventure.
Stevenson originally planned to call his book The Ship's Cook after the pirate Lanky John Silver. This name reflected the author's affection for the character and the paradoxical nature of Silver's role as a cook, making him more humane. However, the publisher convinced Stevenson to change the title to Treasure Island, which was more likely to sell. While this may have been a practical decision, it's also possible that the new title helped capture the spirit of adventure at the heart of the story. After all, who doesn't dream of finding buried treasure? In any case, Stevenson's novel has been a classic of pirate fiction for over a hundred years and shows no signs of losing its appeal.
