Christmas Tree in a Sack with Carrot Ornaments is one machine embroidery design supplied in four original sizes. The smallest file fits a true 100x100 mm (3.94x3.94") embroidery field, while all four versions fit a 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09") field.

The fir tree is decorated with carrot ornaments, red bows and small festive details and stands in a tied fabric sack. This product contains the tree only; the baby goat is not included. You receive digital files for computerized embroidery machines, not a finished embroidered item.

Actual embroidery field Compatibility
80x80 mm (3.15x3.15") No supplied size fits
100x100 mm (3.94x3.94"), commonly called 4x4 Only 54.0x98.4 mm; 1.6 mm total vertical clearance remains
100x170 mm (3.94x6.69") All four sizes fit
130x180 mm (5.12x7.09"), commonly called 5x7 All four sizes fit
140x140 mm (5.51x5.51") All four sizes fit

Run the machine’s boundary trace before using the smallest file in a 100x100 mm field because its height leaves little clearance. Hoop names are rounded commercial labels, so always compare both exact file dimensions with the machine’s usable embroidery field.

Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40 Color Chart

The smallest version uses 12 thread shades arranged in 14 programmed color blocks. Screen colors are approximate; use the Madeira number and a physical shade card when an exact match is required.

Color Madeira Approximate shade Design elements
1138 Light grey-beige Ground shadow
1144 Brown-beige Base layer of the tree sack
1338 Grey-brown Sack shadows, branches and outlines
1270 Sandy beige Sack and repeated light details
1241 Graphite Cord, folds and dark outlines
1189 Dark pine green Deep evergreen shadows
1168 Olive green Main evergreen layer
1172 Carrot orange Carrot ornaments
1104 Light olive Light needles and foliage details
1124 Golden yellow Light decorations and highlights
1378 Red-orange Warm festive decorations
1146 Christmas red Bows and final red details

Programmed sequence:
1138 → 1144 → 1338 → 1270 → 1241 → 1189 → 1168 → 1338 → 1172 → 1104 → 1124 → 1378 → 1270 → 1146

Do not activate automatic color sorting. Madeira 1338 and 1270 return after other colors because they build separate layers of the branches, sack and decorations. Merging repeated colors can change the intended overlap order and affect registration.

The smallest file uses approximately 49.01 m of upper thread. This estimate applies only to the smallest version and does not include thread used for a test stitch.

Fabric, Stabilizer and Needle

Fabric or project Recommended preparation
Firm smooth linen or cotton Medium-weight tear-away backing and a new 75/11 embroidery needle
Loose linen Soft lightweight cutaway or temporarily adhered stabilizer supporting the entire embroidery field
Finished napkin that is difficult to hoop Self-adhesive tear-away stabilizer such as Madeira Cotton Fix
Textured fabric or short pile Suitable backing underneath and thin water-soluble topping above the fabric

For lightweight table linens, begin at approximately 600–700 stitches per minute. Before embroidering the finished item, test the complete design on the same fabric with the same backing, needle and thread. Check the alignment of the layered fir needles, carrot outlines and small bows.

Where to Embroider the Christmas Tree

  • on the visible panel of a folded Christmas dinner napkin;
  • on a children’s placemat or festive basket liner;
  • on the front panel of a fabric gift bag before assembly;
  • on a kitchen towel or guest towel with a smooth insert;
  • on a Christmas stocking panel or reusable fabric package;
  • at one end of a table runner as part of a coordinated pair.

Napkins, basket liners, bags and stocking panels are easier to embroider while the fabric pieces are still flat. For napkin placement, fold the napkin exactly as it will appear on the table, position a full-size paper template on the visible panel and keep the tree clear of hems, lace seams and fold lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which version fits a 100x100 mm or 4x4 embroidery field?

Only the smallest file measuring 54.0x98.4 mm (2.13x3.87 "). It leaves 1.6 mm of total vertical clearance, so run the machine’s boundary trace before stitching.

Do all four sizes fit a 5x7 hoop?

Yes. All four original versions fit a true 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09") embroidery field without resizing.

Why are there 14 color blocks but only 12 thread colors?

Madeira 1338 and 1270 are used again during later stages to form separate layers. Do not merge these blocks with automatic color sorting.

Are the carrot ornaments separate ITH or FSL files?

No. The tree, carrots, bows and fabric sack form one standard filled machine embroidery design stitched directly onto fabric.

Is the baby goat included with this product?

No. This product contains only the Christmas tree in four sizes. The baby goat and the tree are available together in a separate two-design bundle.
