This watercolor pineapple machine embroidery design combines golden-yellow fruit, fresh green leaves and expressive dark sketch lines. The elongated tropical motif works especially well on shirt sleeves, cuffs, kitchen towels, aprons, tote bags and summer table linens.

The design uses layered fills with intentionally visible fabric areas. It is more substantial than a simple outline motif, but the open highlights keep it lighter than a fully filled realistic design. White, ivory and other very light smooth fabrics produce the clearest watercolor effect.

This is a digital product for computerized embroidery machines. No finished embroidery, shirt, towel, patch, fabric or thread will be shipped.

Hoop and embroidery-field requirements

  • Size 1 — 46.3x98.0 mm: 100x100 mm embroidery field, commonly called a 4x4 inch hoop.
  • Size 2 — 50.9x107.8 mm: 130x180 mm embroidery field, commonly called a 5x7 inch hoop.
  • Size 3 — 56.0x118.5 mm: 130x180 mm embroidery field, commonly called a 5x7 inch hoop.
  • Size 4 — 61.6x130.4 mm: 130x180 mm embroidery field, commonly called a 5x7 inch hoop.

Only the smallest published file fits a 100x100 mm embroidery field. Always compare both exact design dimensions with the usable embroidery area supported by your machine rather than the outside dimensions or commercial name of the hoop.

Madeira Classic Rayon color map

The original color chart was created with the Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40 thread library. Six colors form the green crown, layered golden fruit and final dark sketch-like contours.

Sample Madeira Classic Shade What it stitches
1248 Margarita Lime — light fresh green light foundations and highlights on the pineapple leaves
1049 Lime Green — medium botanical green deeper leaf areas, central foliage and green transitions
1135 Baby Chick — pale creamy yellow light foundation and central flesh of the pineapple
1064 Goldenrod — bright golden yellow middle golden washes and curved shading across the fruit
1024 Gold Rush — warm deep gold dark golden rind sections, side shading and individual textured accents
1199 Onyx — very dark charcoal outer contours, leaf structure, rind pattern and internal sketch lines

Pineapple color sequence

Original thread library: Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40.
Sequence: 1248, 1049, 1135, 1064, 1024, 1199.
Color blocks: 6.
Thread changes: 5.
Upper-thread consumption: approximately 32.13 m for the 46.3x98.0 mm file.

The original color chart shows a rounded total of 11900 stitches for the smallest file. Use the exact product-page total of 11799 stitches when estimating embroidery time.

Screen colors are visual references. Actual thread appearance depends on rayon sheen, lighting, monitor calibration and the production batch.

Fabric, stabilizer and needle

This design contains layered fills and a final dark outline that must remain accurately registered. As a starting point, divide the fabric weight in g/m² by three to estimate the required stabilizer weight. For example, 150 g/m² fabric suggests a stabilizer close to 50 g/m². Adjust this estimate for fabric stretch, design size and the intended use of the finished item.

  • Stable cotton, linen, poplin or twill: use Madeira Cotton Soft 50 g/m² or Gunold STIFFY 1650 50 g/m². Both are medium-weight tear-away stabilizers suitable for woven fabrics.
  • Light but stable shirt fabric: Gunold STIFFY 1640 37 g/m² is a lighter tear-away option. Test it first because the larger sizes place more stitches along the dark exterior contour.
  • Sleeves, cuffs, pockets or slightly stretchy fabric that cannot be hooped normally: use Madeira Cotton Fix 50 g/m² or Gunold FILMOPLAST 50 g/m². These are self-adhesive tear-away stabilizers with protective release paper. Hoop the stabilizer, remove the paper inside the embroidery area and press the fabric onto the adhesive surface.
  • Elastic jersey or knitwear: use Madeira Weblon Plus 55 g/m² cut-away stabilizer for permanent support. A self-adhesive tear-away can assist with positioning, but it should not be the only support for a highly elastic garment.
  • Terry or raised-texture towels: use an appropriate backing underneath and Madeira Avalon 20 micron water-soluble topping above the fabric to prevent the fine yellow and dark details from sinking into the pile.

Use a sharp embroidery needle No. 75/11 for woven cotton and linen. For knitwear, use a ballpoint embroidery needle appropriate for the fabric. Hoop the material smoothly without stretching it and make a complete test stitch with the same fabric, stabilizer and thread planned for the finished project.

Project ideas

  • shirt sleeves, cuffs and front panels;
  • smooth cotton kitchen towels and tea towels;
  • apron pockets and fabric recipe-book covers;
  • summer tote bags and reusable produce bags;
  • linen napkins and tropical table runners;
  • decorative cushion panels and fabric baskets.

The narrow vertical shape makes the design particularly useful for sleeves, towel ends and apron panels where a wide fruit composition would be difficult to place.

Frequently asked questions

Will this pineapple fit a 4x4 embroidery hoop?

Only the 46.3x98.0 mm file fits a 100x100 mm embroidery field. The three larger published sizes require a 130x180 mm field.

Which fabric color gives the best watercolor effect?

White, ivory, pale cream and other very light solid fabrics provide the clearest result. The base fabric remains visible in intentional open areas and functions as part of the highlights.

Can the pineapple be embroidered on a shirt sleeve?

Yes. The narrow vertical format works well on sleeves and cuffs. When the placement cannot be hooped normally, use a self-adhesive stabilizer such as Madeira Cotton Fix 50 g/m² or Gunold FILMOPLAST 50 g/m² and carefully secure the fabric without stretching it.

Why are some areas of the pineapple not completely filled?

The visible fabric and irregular color coverage are intentional parts of the watercolor and sketch technique. They are not missing stitches or defects in the file.

Is this a finished patch or embroidered product?

No. The purchase contains digital files for computerized embroidery machines. No physical product will be shipped.
