Emerald Floral Corner Machine Embroidery Design is a downloadable L-shaped botanical composition with two large violet flowers, smaller blossoms and buds, curved stems, layered emerald and mint-green leaves, and ornamental spiral scrolls. Turquoise, teal, lilac and pearl-white accents create a distinctive jewel-toned floral palette.

The open asymmetrical composition follows two sides of a corner without forming a closed frame. It can decorate tablecloths, table runners, large placemats, pillow panels, bed linens, bedspreads and decorative textile panels. The purchase includes two prepared sizes. This is a digital design for an embroidery machine, not a finished embroidered product.

Madeira Classic color sequence

The supplied color charts list Madeira Classic thread numbers without official shade names. The descriptions below identify the design elements stitched during each color block. Both sizes use the same sequence.

Block Thread Design elements
1 Madeira Classic 1046 Mint-turquoise foundation of the stems, scrolls and selected leaves
2 Madeira Classic 1248 Light-green sections of the leaves, stems and botanical scrolls
3 Madeira Classic 1185 Dark emerald and teal shadows, outlines and contrasting foliage details
4 Madeira Classic 1311 Lilac foundation of the large flower petals, small blossoms and buds
5 Madeira Classic 1093 Bright turquoise accents on the petals and flower centers
6 Madeira Classic 1134 Deep blue-turquoise shading, outlines and decorative floral details
7 Madeira Classic 1004 Pearl-white highlights on the large flowers and selected light details
8 Madeira Classic 1248 Final light-green accent in the center of the large flower

Madeira Classic 1248 is used in two separate stages, so the design contains seven thread colors and eight sequential color blocks. When substituting another thread brand, preserve the contrast between the light, medium and dark shades so that the layered petals and foliage remain clearly defined.

Machine software may display different automatic colors. Follow the supplied JPG chart and read How to Use a Color Chart for Machine Embroidery before changing the original sequence.

Required embroidery field

  • The 154.0x159.2 mm design requires a usable embroidery field of at least 160x160 mm.
  • The 193.2x199.2 mm design requires a usable embroidery field of at least 200x200 mm.

Neither size fits a 130x180 mm or 5x7 hoop. The smaller version can be used in a larger 160x240 mm or 160x260 mm field, while the larger version fits a 200x200 mm, 200x260 mm or larger embroidery field. Always compare the exact file dimensions with the usable field supported by your machine.

Placement ideas

  • embroider the design in all four corners of a tablecloth;
  • place it on opposite corners of a table runner;
  • use one corner on a large placemat or decorative napkin;
  • rotate the design around the corners of a pillow panel;
  • decorate a bedspread, quilt panel or textile wall hanging.

For a four-corner arrangement, use the same file and rotate it by 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Mark the center axes and the distance from the fabric edges before hooping each corner. Mirroring is not required.

Fabric, stabilizer and thread

Stable woven cotton, linen, twill and medium-weight decorative fabrics are suitable for this design. For stable fabric, begin with a tear-away stabilizer. Its minimum weight can be estimated using the following formula:

Fabric weight ÷ 3 = minimum stabilizer weight

For example, fabric weighing 160 g/m² or approximately 4.72 oz/yd² requires a stabilizer of about 53 g/m² or 1.57 oz/yd². Apply temporary embroidery adhesive to the stabilizer, attach it to the reverse of the fabric and hoop both layers together without stretching the material.

Use a medium-weight cut-away stabilizer for soft furnishing fabrics, garments and materials that stretch or require permanent support. Add a lightweight water-soluble topping when embroidering on velvet, terry cloth or another fabric with a raised surface.

Use 40-weight rayon or viscose thread for a glossy jewel-like finish. Polyester embroidery thread is a practical alternative for table linens and other items that will be washed frequently. A 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle is suitable for most medium-weight woven fabrics.

Test the original-size file on a sample of the project fabric before embroidering the final item. More information is available in the guide Perfecting Stitch Density, Fabric and Stabilizer Balance.
