Hoop names in inches are commonly rounded by embroidery machine manufacturers. Always compare the exact design dimensions with the usable embroidery field supported by your machine.

How to embroider lavender on linen or cotton

Prewash cotton or linen if the finished item will be laundered. Press the fabric before marking the embroidery center. For stable medium-weight linen or cotton, begin with a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer and hoop the fabric without stretching it.

Loosely woven linen may need firmer support and a lightweight water-soluble film on top. The film keeps fine flower details from sinking between the fabric threads. Because this is a tall design with more than 23000 stitches, make a test stitch on the same fabric and stabilizer before embroidering the finished item.

A 75/11 sharp embroidery needle with standard 40-weight thread is a useful starting combination for detailed lavender flowers. Replace the needle if it begins pushing fabric fibers down instead of piercing them cleanly.
