Machine embroidery on a bomber

Bomber is called a short jacket with an elastic band on the sleeves and the bottom of the product. Despite the recent popularity of such a piece of clothing, it was invented a long time ago, back in 1955. The name of this jacket is not casual. Initially, it was modeled for US pilot-bombers.

Later, a distinctive feature of these jackets was a bright orange lining. It was ordered by the aviation rescue service. Since after the crash it was difficult to find a pilot dressed in a blue low-notice form on the ground. Therefore, pilots who made an emergency landing or were forced to leave the plane and bend down with a parachute, dressed the jacket with a bright side outward.

Soon, along with the appearance of skinheads and other subcultures, these jackets became popular among the population. It because they were comfortable, did not hide movements, could rush on two sides, and the main thing they were considered unpretentious in the wearing.

Now the bombers are returning their popularity again. As we can say, more things change, the more they stay the same.

Nowadays, bombers are quilted, classic and sporting.

So, the machine embroidery on the bomber.

Since these jackets are sewn, mainly from raincoat, it is difficult to embroider on it. That’s why we recommend using patches.

A patch is ideal for this embroidery project.

To create an original patch, you will need:

~ Dense fabric for the base, as a rule, widely use dense felt. It is better to take a similar color to the cloth of the bomber.

~ Cut-away adhesive stabilizer

~ Needle for embroidery on dense fabrics 90/14

~ Threads (polyester or viscose)

~ Air-erase pen

~ Textile glue or needle

First you need to embroider the design itself on the fabric. To do this, properly position the embroidery on the fabric. Take an air-erase pen and a printed design template. Attach the printout to the fabric. Drag the embroidery center mark. Then draw a horizontal and a vertical line. If you did everything right, put the template aside. Cut off a piece of cloth that is a bit larger than the size of the design. Then glue the cut-away adhesive stabilizer from the bottom with the hot iron. Remember that the size of his canvas should exceed the size of the hoop. Put the fabric in such a way that the marks you make and the marks on the frame coincide.

Put the embroidery frame in the machine, embroider the design.

Once the machine has finished embroidering, unhoop the fabric. Cut off the excess stabilizer. Then cut the embroidery close to the edge. Your patch with a rebel skull in a tattoo style is ready. It remains only to sew or glue it on the bomber.

To do this, attach a patch to the place where you want to see the embroidery. Route the stitch along the contour of the patch with a sewing machine or manually. Alternatively, you can glue the patch with a textile glue.

The advantage of this idea with a patch is that if your bomber is worn out and you decide to buy a new one, the patch can be peeled off or whipped. And you can adjust it to another new bomber.
