Two bunnies meet for Halloween: one hides beneath a white ghost costume with round worried eyes, while the other wears a dark skeleton costume with a skull and bones. The first two files fit 80x80 mm hoops; the other three fit 100x100 mm hoops. The pair works well on a hoodie pocket, a treat bag, a case, a napkin or children’s clothing.
This is a digital machine embroidery design, not a finished item. Every size is prepared separately for an embroidery machine.

Placement and stabilization
Print the selected file at 100% before hooping and mark the center of the whole pair, not the center of one bunny. Use your machine’s trace function to keep the ears, tail and ground shadow clear of a seam, pocket edge, zipper or drawstring channel.
For stable cotton or linen, hoop one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft tear-away with the fabric. If the linen is open-weave, the knit stretches, or the project can shift, use Gunold Stiffy 2040 Cut Away instead. It keeps the eye outlines, skull and bones stable through the last stitch.
Frequently asked questions
Which files fit a 3x3 hoop and which require a 4x4 hoop?
The 59.7x67.9 mm and 65.5x74.7 mm files fit an 80x80 mm (3x3") hoop. Starting with the 72.0x82.3 mm file, use a 100x100 mm (4x4") hoop. The 86.0x98.3 mm file is prepared for 4x4; because it is close to the height limit, trace the design first and use your machine’s actual sewing field rather than the outside dimensions of the hoop.
How can I embroider the pair on a patch pocket without stitching the pocket closed?
When the garment construction allows it, open part of the pocket seam so the front layer can lie flat, embroider the motif, then resew the opening. Do not hoop the pocket together with the back of the garment: the needle will join both layers. For a finished bulky item, use a suitable magnetic or clamp hoop and Gunold KK 100 temporary adhesive only to hold the fabric to the stabilizer.
How do I keep the eyes and bones visible on terry, fleece or velvet?
Lay Sulky Solvy water-soluble topping over the surface and secure it with a basting stitch. The film holds the pile down so the yellow eyes, black lines and white bones stay visible. Remove it carefully after embroidery. Smooth cotton and linen do not need a topper.
What should I use on fine linen when the back of the work will remain visible?
Prewash or decatize linen that may shrink. On firm linen, use Madeira Cotton Soft and remove it carefully after embroidery. Stitch a sample on open-weave linen: if the eye and bone outlines shift, use thin Gunold Stiffy 2040 Cut Away, even if the backing will later be enclosed by a lining.
