This adorable Canadian Gnome design is perfect for adding a whim to your embroidery projects! The design comes in four sizes so you can choose the ideal size for your project. The gnome is holding a jug of maple syrup and has a bushy beard and pointy hat. This design would look great on a pillow, tote bag, or T-shirt. Maple syrup is a delicious Canadian tradition, and this design is the perfect way to show your pride in our great country.

The history of maple syrup began in the 18th century when the first mention of preparing such syrup appeared in a book called The New England Huswife. However, the technology of its production was invented by the indigenous inhabitants of North America, the Indians, much earlier. They were the first to taste maple "icicles" - frozen drops of juice dripping down from the tree bark. According to legend, one day, an Indian brave was out hunting in the forest when he heard a strange noise. Following the sound, he came upon a tree oozing a sweet sap. Intrigued, he tasted it and found it to be delicious. He filled his container with the sap and took it back to his village, where it quickly became a popular treat. From then on, the Indians would collect sap from maple trees and turn it into syrup every spring. Today, this tradition is carried on by maple syrup producers worldwide. Thanks to the Indians' early innovatio0n, we can enjoy this delicious sticky treat on pancakes, waffles, and even ice cream! Who knew that such a sweet story could have such a delightful ending?
