In the embroidered world there is an opinion that the embroidery on this material is complex and unassailable. RainCoat fabric was invented in the 20th century in Italy, and was produced under the name of bologna (from the name of the city of Bologna), and then become popular in the USA. Raincoats, jackets were made from this fabric which had good waterproof properties. From that times and until the modern RainCoat fabric has undergone a long path of improvement.

Today the composition of the RainCoat fabric can be different, but mostly it is produced from mixed fibers. So, the plaque fabric of USA production consists of cotton and polyester.
In appearance, the RainCoat can be patterned or monophonic, quilted or smooth. We recommend the use of a monophonic, smooth version for embroidery.

It is noteworthy that it does not require special care (it is washed even in a washing machine, but at a temperature not higher than 40 degrees) and it can be ironed (at temperatures up to 110 degrees).

For embroidery application on a RainCoat fabric it is necessary:

– Always wash the fabric before embroidery; otherwise it is more likely that it will sit down.
– Select the smallest embroidery frames that fit the design. In this case it is 6.02×7.81 in.
– Use a middle cutaway stabilizer as the lining.
– This is a very slippery fabric. That is why you need sprinkle the stabilizer with the fabric glue stick. This will help to avoid slipping and rolling, and correctly apply embroidery.
– In order to simplify the embroidery process, glue a double-sided adhesive tape around the perimeter of the embroidery frame.
– In this case, the ideal needle 75/11, this is used for sturdy fabrics, such as RainCoat fabric.

Tip: To apply any of the designs to the RainCoat fabric sprinkle the embroidery threads with 100% silicone or natural wax. It fills resulting holes from the needle. So you can prevent damaging the function of water resistance in the fabric.
