If you prefer a lighter option for smaller designs or less noticeable stabilizer, you could opt for Sulky Tear-Easy 1.5 oz (50 g/m²), although cutaway provides better long-term durability.

To prevent the loops in terry cloth towels from interfering with your stitches, use a water-soluble topping. A product like Sulky Solvy (20 microns) or Gunold Solvy will sit on top of the fabric, ensuring that the stitches don’t sink into the towel's loops. After embroidery, this topping can be easily dissolved in water, leaving no residue behind.

What to Do If the Towel Cannot Be Hooped

If the towel is too thick to be hooped without causing distortion, the floating method is your best option:

1. Hoop only the stabilizer (either tear-away or cutaway).
2. Use a temporary adhesive spray to attach the towel to the stabilizer.
3. Smooth the towel to ensure it is wrinkle-free and securely adhered before beginning the embroidery.
