Useful advice from Royal Present:
For those embroiderers who are just starting to make machine embroidery for order, we have good advice:
To calculate the cost of work correctly, divide it into several stages:
1. Preproduction
It takes 70% of the time. It includes: coordination of design, fabric, color of threads.
2. Production
It takes 20% of the time. This is the embroidery itself, i.e. your technological process.
3. Postproduction
This is 5% of the time. It includes cleaning, ironing and packing an already finished product.
4. Risks
We usually include 10% risk. But this formula remains 5%. You can independently calculate your time-order formula.
Risks in machine embroidery are unforeseen situations. Most often they are associated with poor-quality project preparation.
For example, you did not test the embroidery, did not coordinate the colors with the customer. You may break the machine, fail the thread tension spring. The customer may, for example, change his mind or change the concept.
Once you print out your production formula, it will be easier for you to count the cost of your embroidery servants.
